Sansei Yonsei Kai (SYK) is an all-volunteer, multicultural, and multigenerational dance organization founded around 1974 to promote and preserve traditional Japanese dance. For over 50 years, SYK has continued the long-standing traditions of the Japanese American community in the Twin Cities, sharing culture, history, and artistry through performance.
Sansei Yonsei Kai exists to represent Japanese dance and culture to the public, fostering understanding and appreciation across communities. Our dancers performed at major regional events such as the Festival of Nations, Como Park Obon, and the Rose Fest Parade, as well as many other community festivals and cultural celebrations. Sansei Yonsei Kai has performed nationwide in California and Hawaii, and internationally in Japan, proudly sharing Japanese American culture with diverse audiences.
As a volunteer-driven organization, Sansei Yonsei Kai welcomes new dancers and volunteers to join us for free. With many events already planned for the coming year, this is an exciting time to become part of a group dedicated to cultural tradition, community engagement, and shared celebration.
